Currently, the department trains professionals at post-graduate level in Public microbiology on weekend basis. In addition, the department offers Biomedical courses for graduate and post graduate students in various disciplines including Medicine(NIME), IESO and Anesthesia Level IV.

Since the college is implementing the new PBL learning -teaching process the department is planning to be a centre of excellence for all other NIME institutions by preparing new guidelines and assessment policies.
Future Plans of the Department Include:

Improve quality of training, research output and service delivery through capacity building in terms of human and material resources;

Offer clinical services related to each course unit.

Establish links with national and international institutions.

Establish standard biomedical research center.
